SKN We Ready! Jump up as one! Waving as one! One Federation!

St. Kitts SugarMas is an annual carnival celebration in St. Kitts that brings together locals and visitors for a vibrant and lively cultural experience as they bring one year to a close and herald in the new year. Our SugarMas experience kicked off on the 23rd of December, a little late, but in time to catch Day 2 of Cane Juice's Carnival Love Festival. It’s here that we were first introduced to Kittitian Soca such as the Grand Masters Band and Small Axe Band. On Christmas Eve, we hit up Boozy Brunch at the Carambola Beach Club (love this venue) where fine dining and premium drinks turned the event from classy to bare vibes in a split second.

After a Jolly Christmas day with our TJJ and SKN families came one of the main highlights of St. Kitts SugarMas, the J'Ouvert celebration. Old and young all covered themselves in colorful paint and powder as they danced through the streets to the sounds of live bands. FUN FACT: St. Kitts’ Road March is decided after their j’ouvert celebrations as locals already know which is their favorites for the road. Congratulations to the Small Axe Band on their Road March victory with the super patriotic song “Showcase”, and runner up Grand Masters Band with their feel-good song “Happy”.

The fete nah done! DJ Tero’s Sunset ‘Wild Safari’ brought regional soca stars like USVI's Pumpa and T&T's Olatunji to turn things up a notch. Top Off Brunch provided a chill, serene ambiance complimented with great food and endless drinks. Last, but far from least, was Inception: Midnight Brunch - A Futuristic Escape where we partied until sunrise to both Soca and Dancehall with live performances from Jamaica’s Valiant and St. Kitts’ very own Byron Messia.

The entire SugarMas culminated with the Grand Carnival Parade on New Years Day and Last Lap on January 2nd. Overflowing with cultural and historical references like the Mansion Bull, clowns, moko jumbies and masqueraders, the parade is a sight to behold. Special shout out to Luxe Carnival for the indescribable hospitality shown toward our team and incredible road experience.

Overall, St. Kitts SugarMas is a must-visit event for anyone looking to experience the rich culture and traditions of St. Kitts in a fun and festive setting. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to the island, their carnival offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the lively spirit of St. Kitts and create lasting memories with friends and family.
