July 4th is the peak of the summer season here in NYC. This usually means that you should be prepared to stuff your belly with BBQ, Curry Q and anything Q! Everybody has some lil' lime or big lime going on somewhere ... not to mention a big fete like Under The Trees in Brooklyn (summer fete central)! Mind you it is literally under some rhell big trees! Lol!

This July 4th ... friends and family of TJJ were too excited to hit the road for an extensive day of limin' hard and fettin' harder!!! I do believe the plan was to hit about 5 events in one afternoon and that did not include working! Lawd... ahhh yes the pressures of being a Trini! smile Did I mention that we were truly flexin' in style... drop top cherry red Lex, you get the picture! We arrived in style and copped a parking spot two houses away from the venue ... amazing! Big up to my girl Charisse, she gets a spot in front of a fete every time!!! After the usual frisk before entry we rolled up in the yard feeling and looking fabulous but, amm ... crickets! I cannot tell you how shocked I was! This fete was jam ram cram last year (see gallery) ... ammm ... anywho, we decided that we would breeze through the rest of events on our list and come back a bit later. Now keep in mind that it was already after 5pm and the fete was to be over at 10pm.

- 3 HRS LATER -

On our way back, when I tell you one piece ah rain!!! Well yuh done know the TJJ camera not coming out in any kind of inclement weather! Turns out it was a piece that lasted for just a bit so by the time we strolled in, the fete was RAM JAM CRAM!!!!! Now that's what I'm talking about!! Folks had their umbrellas out like it was just another accessory. The chit line was jam cram and the bar ... well forget it! Some how I managed to wrangle up some drinks before the night was over though. smile

In spite of the lousy weather at the moment, the ladies still came out in their flirty little mini and maxi dresses looking great!!! My neck did snap a couple of times as some of the fellas were looking just fine as they want to be! *lol* Everyone was having a time in all their jamishness! Back to Basics was just giving us pure headaches when he fling dong the new chunes from Machel and Patrice ("Push Bumper", "Tempa Wine"). "Tempa wine, tempa wine .. oh oh!!!" Oh yeah and we girl Alison Hinds ("Bumpers")!!! "Lemme see yuh wuk up baaaad!!!!!" Only waist!!!!! Crop Over 2k8 ga be swwwweeeet to bad!

It was a done deal when 3 Canal arrived and just mash up the stage bad bad bad... complete with confetti!!! I even take a lil' wine with Stanton on stage!!!! *lol* I love dem fellas... dey is de besssssss!!!! By the end of the show and the fete, I looked like who did it and ran!!! *lol* Under The Trees ... the ultimate way to wrap up a long hot dry/wet July 4th!!! We dey next year, how bout you?
