Hey y’all! Hmmm ... the last time folks were so hyped for a fete was Shine NY and that was Memorial Weekend. It’s Labor Day Weekend in NYC, and of course, the talk of the town was Vale Vibe. Lemme break it down for you. You know how it’s hellified haaaarrrrddd to get a ticket for the Originial Diamond Vale extravaganza (see 2008 coverage)? Well surprisingly, it was just the same for the first installment of the D' Original Vale Breakfast Party in New York! Mind you, while there were soooo many other events to attend, apparently this ticket was HOT HOT HOT!!!

The venue was quite an odd choice ... the Brooklyn Public Library in Grand Army Plaza. For you non New Yorkers, it’s your last spot to chip in front of at the end of the parade on the Parkway. For us New Yorker’s it was just weird! The library? Shhhh ... just books ... nooo cookies!!! Lol!

Anywho we not complaining because you know Trini's fettin' anywhere!!! We arrived early-ish which was around 12am and still had to deal with parking a mile an a half away by the freakin ZOO! Literally, the Prospect Park Zoo is around the corner, but not a close corner I might add!!!

So here we all are walking down Flatbush Ave with the library looming in the distance looking and feeling like we would never get to it, and a stream of folks dressed to the nines making the same journey! Text-a-holic Juice straight up switched from her stilettoes back into her flip flops and was about to flag down a dollar van! Lol! That’s to tell you how far away we were! Lawd! Bam! We finally arrived in front of the library in all it’s glory and eef you see people! They all had one question in common and it was not how you doin? “Yuh have any tickets?” It was like geeez! We felt bad though cuz who likes to be left out!

Well you know the usual, after a quick frisk we were in. Soon we were jamming to the selections from D’Bandit out of Toronto, alongside Vale's resident DJs Alicia D' Duchess and Anonymous as we joined in the social buzz. It was like, “Hi!!! Long time!” or “ Hey, how you doing? Mwah Mwah!” smile There were lots of folks in town from across the country and everyone looked fabulous! Did I mention that the fete was ram jam!

The bar which was located to our right as we entered, was easy breezy! Big up Solan and the crew from Tillman’s. The food bar was to our left. I heard it was amazing... didn’t get a chance to eat though. The jamishness went on without interruption except for ISLANDpeople’s presentation of their latest creations for 2009 Carnival. It was well received by the crowd but some were definitely anxious to get back to the action.

By the way, you also had to watch your step because this fete had plenty “ballers”, set ups (personal drinks stash) were everywhere! Lol! J One fella had de bottle in his back pocket and was havin' ah time!
This fete by no means can compare to feeling the Sunday morning sun in your face in Diamond Vale mixed with the Carnival nostalgia, but the idea was awesome, and I can bet that the library will not be able to accommodate the crowd to come next year. It's going to be bigger and better!!!!

Vale Vibe ... TJJ vibin' wid allyuh straight!!!

Laterz
Lil bit ah Juice
