If you attended the Trinidad vs Jamaica comedy show last mother’s day then you must’ve been aware that they had to have ah round two. This year, this great show was being held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and all the mother’s were out in abundance with their loving families at their side. This new concept was pioneered by two of the hottest award winning young comedians in Canada - Jay Martin and Jean Paul. Two countries ONE winner. “JAMAICA vs TRINIDAD.” This was the biggest world Caribbean comedy show ever. The concept was based on the insight people never really leave “back home” no matter where they eventually reside. This concept exploits people’s feelings of pride for the mother country by pitting comedians representing Trinidad and Jamaica against each other in a “joke-off”.

Making our belly’s bust for the night were Marc Trinidad, Errol Fabien and Jean Paul who represented for Team Trinidad…while Lemon, Ity and Fancy Cat, Jay Martin and Blakka Ellis (last performance before retirement) represented

for Team Jamaica. Doors opened at 2:30 pm and showtime
was 3:00 pm, but there was also a show added at 7:00pm (only because the first one selloooofffff)! Earl La Pierre played an amazing steel-pan session that had everyone out of their seats, it was truly inspiring. There were tons of dj’s in the building providing us with a lil musical remedy. The dj’s representing for Team Trinidad were Dr. Jay, Dj Bass, Dj Chief, and Dj Remedy and Team Jamaica consisted of Mr Presto, Lindo P and Spex.

The show kicked off with rel laughter from the jump...one by one the artists blessed the stage and had the crowd rollin’ on the floor! From start to end, it was non-stop laughter yes! And yuh know what they say…..laughter is good for the soul! Being ah trini, I really didn’t think I would understand the Jamaican patios but I must admit Jamaicans are funny… Now I’m sure everyone’s wants to know who WON..and I’m proud to say TRINIDAD took it home! Of course J no questions asked! Lol – In all seriousness though it was a great day…all the mother’s were dressed really nice and surely enjoyed themselves! Whether it was husband’s taking out their wives or children taking out their mother’s this was the perfect gift for your mother for mothers day….doh forget that for next year!
