Holla! It's your girl Petite. It's Mawnin Neighbor '09 and TJJ NY was definitely in the heezie. Now unfortunately it was a really weird day for the team. Our travel arrangements sucked big time. We were still excited about the event though, and were determined to keep our spirits up and have a time, TJJ style!

So we arrived at this breakfast event in the afternoon. Lol! Don't laugh seriously, that is how it is done in NYC. They say breakfast party but really the prime time is to arrive around 3pm-ish.

Well oh gosh, I have to mention that security was tighter than a crapaud's bamsie! Hear nah... that frisk was the height of discomfort. I was touched in places that made me disgusted with myself! "We're just looking for sharp objects." Hmmm... I wasn't too sure about that one. Man... that dam near killed my vibe! I mean it's good to know that the security team is very thorough but there is a line that should not be crossed. I'm just saying.

Anyway, on the inside we noticed ... crickets ... the place was bare. We swore we were too late but in fact we were early. I was actually a bit surprised because this event was ram last year. I definitely was not concerned though ... Thief Head Crew (THC) is notorious for having awesome events that are usually at capacity.

We heard that this event would have some finger lickin' food and decided to check that out. Question... "Do you remember the last time you had cheese puffs and felt embarrassed to go back for thirds because they were soooo good?" I had to check myself oui! Big up to Miguel and the best corn soup in BK. I saw some folks chippin' around with bake and saltfish and the look on their faces said it all. The food at Mawnin Neighbor was wicked.

The chunes were niiiiiicccceeeee. I just had to take a small wine just on principle. Amidst the small wine I was suddenly ambushed! Ambush wine! Don't you know someone buss meh sandals! Mind you I arrived in heels and switched to flats and had to return to the heels because of the outrageous winery that ruined my sandals!! Good thing the designer has a great return policy. Pressha!

Everyone looked so fashionably fabulous. This is something that is always nice to see. The pretty dresses and fellas, I am loving the polo shirts. There was indeed a good vibe in the air. Everyone was out to have a time. Not to mention folks were buying bottles of you name it!

The fete was supposed end at 6pm but at 5:30-ish people were still pouring in. At this time the fete was ram. The venue was quite large and still there were so many people in there that it was a task to get from one end to the other. Oh did I mention the threatening skies? Oh well let me tell you the rain was intermittent at best, but then it started to pour at one point! You should see folks crammed up under tents while some were wining with umbrellas. What was most disturbing was the fact that there were grown, hard back men taking up mad space under the tents while little ladies like myself, were left out in the rain! I guess chivalry IS dead!!

A little birdie told me, well actually it was advertised that BENJAI was to perform ... and we couldn't wait. I was a bit bewildered as to where he would be able to deliver some of his smash hits. It turns out that there was an old car up against the wall and that was to be the stage! Lol! Too funny .. but Benjai most certainly did hop up on that car and proceeded to mash up the place.

I don't think I have to mention Benjai's hits. You know how he drops it! There was one girl who maybe had a few too many and hopped up on the car with him and proceeded to wine on him from all directions. I thought it was genius! Lol! It definitely gave the crowd a good laugh. Wait, you should have seen when Benjai decided to jump down into the crowd! The women lost it and each snatched a piece of him to wine on. After a while you couldn't see him. You just heard him singing about the women wining! Next thing we knew he was able to restore some order and had about 20 women in a conga line with him on the end chipping through the crowd! Love it!!!

Alas it was time to leave. Thief Head ... we had a great time as we usually do at your events! Sadly we did not get to taste the rest of the menu. I heard someone raving about the Lamb. Well, next time I am making it my business to sample every morsel, and I know you guys will not disappoint. Big up to KMC who was on the scene just chillin.

Oh and memo to security ... I saw several sharp objects in a few persons' possession, so ammm what was the point of the violent frisk again? Tanty say tell security doh go dong dey.....
