Date: Sunday 3rd May 2009 Location: Taj Lounge. 48 W 21 Street. New York, NY Promotions: Shorblu Events Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Namakaram. Spring? This weekend it was back to rain slickers, boots and umbrellas. *sigh* Anywho, Team TJJ NY was in full effect at Taj for Sutra, the follow up for last year's Karma presented by ShorBlu Events, y'all know the fellas who have the wicked Caribbean lime on a Thursday in Manhattan. Well as usual we arrived early, around 3pm. So early, that it wasn't quite popping off yet. However, I was not concerned because we knew this fete was going to knock our boots off! Plus it was a lazy Sunday, so I'm sure everyone decided to take their sweet time to arrive. Meanwhile the DJ's were jamming some chunes to keep the early birds warmed up. Before
I knew it the place was ram cram. It was like everyone arrived at the same time!
Already we lost track of time because when the weather gets nice in NYC folks
come out of hibernation. So it was a gab fest for a good hour before the cocktails
kicked in. Big, BIG birthday shout to Curtis, one of the members of ShorBlu. Blessings to you! Also birthday shout to Jen Bella, friend of the Juice! Her crew was the livest! Be sure to check it out on TJJ TV, stay tuned...
Man, the music was extra swanky with every genre imaginable. Big up Katy Perry yo! Lol! The sexy Sutra dancers had the fellas mesmerized with the dazzling costumes and sultry moves. Everyone was jammin. I have to mention one of TJJ's favorite DJ's, Duchess Alicia was in the heezy fresh off the plane from Trinidad! Oh and of course she ripped it, no surprise there. But wait, in the middle of the big chunes I was like, "Why do I smell chicken?" No joke people. I soon discovered that we were being served roti! Not baby or mini roti ... full fledged pull-up-a-chair-and-throw-down roti! Lol! I cannot tell you the last time I saw so many well dressed people licking their chops. Now the fellas of Shorblu presented us with a special treat this time around. Instead of your ususal guest appearance artiste, we got a Capoeira show! Those guys from the Harlem Fitness Capoeira were awesome. For those of you looking for a new way to get fit or kick some grass, check it out. FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capoeira The
fete continued with music to hold your head and bawl for your mummy! Folks I was
wining low with everyone else. Special thanks to DreDogg, Curtis and Shorne for taking good care of us. The fete was live and we are looking forward to celebrating your third! Namaste |
