The evening began with the sweet sounds of the Silver Stars steel orchestra and a soulful and colorful rendition of the Canadian national anthem (which in my humble opinion was the best rendition I have heard to date). The politicians then had their turn with the mic and did the balancing act when attempting to address the reason for the reduced funding for a documented high income generator for the city. (go figure!!)
Mr Miller then made his rounds through the VIP area and was handed a baby for the all important ""photo op"" which the writer begrudgingly captured. Once all the formalities were over the parade began much to the delight of the crowd. As with all events there are favorites. Favorites because you would be playing with this band on the weekend , or maybe because you have played with them in the past or.... simply because you liked how the costumed look.
