We heading to the Arima Velodrome for the semi-finals of the BMobile International
Soca Monarch!
For any true fan of soca, this years show should be a sure treat, swords have been unsheathed and battle lines have been drawn, the heat is definitely on. This semi-final is a star studded event with the likes of veterans Patrice Roberts, Denise Belfon, and Blaxx and many more going up against newcomers such as Brent Anthony, Skhi, and Laura Pereiera.
Even more exciting, is the return of three former monarchs to the competition including: Kurt Allen, 1999 winner, absent for 8 years, Bunji Garlin, two time champion, absent for 1 year and Super Blue five time champion absent for seven years. Interestingly, many of the artistes competing have named Super Blue as not only one of their favourite soca artistes but also as their favourite soca monarch; so for many of the artistes in the competition this is their chance to perform against and perhaps even defeat , an icon of the competition. Additionally, there is also the added element of inter-family rivalry, father competing against daughter Fay-Ann and son-in-law Bunji Garlin, and Blaxx and Olatunji from the Roy Cape family going head to head in the power category. Who from these families will make it to the final round?
This is not to be missed, defending champion D Boss (formerly known as Iwer George) has already issued a warning to those trying to take the crown that he will not make it an easy feat and he will be making a Passa Passa on Fantastic Friday. Who will make it to Fantastic Friday to stand up to this challenge? Take no chances, dont wait to hear who makes it to the next round, come out and see for yourself, support your favourite soca artiste!
