 Happy people, Busspepper
Promotions presents Bushfire ... wild fire ... it spreads? When we asked
one of the promoters what does this concept mean? His response was, "Wild
fire spreads and does not stop, so think of a party where the enjoyment
and the friendly atmosphere is spreading non stop throughout the venue."
WOW! Such intricate thoughts behind these parties names we thought. Central London, the
heart of the Capital, Wax Bar in Oxford Circus. Good location, easy access
and always an ease to travel home after a night of dancing, drinking,
meeting new people and catching up with old friends. Although not the
first time Busspepper Promotions had a party at this venue, it's the first
time this TJJ rep at this location. I think Wax Bar is quite an odd venue
though in terms of architecture and structure. With bars on both sides
of the long corridor which was full of people, the immaculately small
dance floor with the elevated DJ booth in the corner accompanied by millions
of seating accommodation. I am of the opinion that of the two venues I
have been too so far, Abacus is still my favourite. More spacious, larger
dance floor... so more batty rolling and more mingling amongst the crowd.
Nevertheless, the bar staff was always friendly as I had to have my daily
(ok hourly!) dose of Guinness. I guess is all up to the Busspepper crew
where they having their events - either way they will always have the
crowd and people coming from all over the United Kingdom just visiting
London for this spice of Caribbean flavour that they are missing. Party scheduled to
start for 9 pm, arriving at quarter to 9... the line was as long as the
queue outside Primark when they opened their flagship store on Oxford
Street or for Trinis reading this - do you all remember when Mc Donalds
opened on Independence Square - do you people remember that queue that
was bending around the corner? Trinis early for ONCE! The power sound system
Gladiators was blazing the venue with the latest Calypso/Soca and Dancehall.
Later on in the night Kern with Less Than Zero/Hi Fidelity direct from
Trini entered and continued the rampage which had everyone partying and
singing their favourite tunes. The old Soca session again was infamous
and wicked, as these English would say From Shadow, to Sparrow, to Kitch...
"Tonight this black man feeling to party..." The icing on the
cake was the blessed old school dancehall vibe... from Luciano, to Everton
Blender, to Beenie Man and the infamous Lady Shabba "Ram Ram"
... I think I saw a woman being lifted in the air and straddled to this
song ... You go Boy ... Under Yuh Guinness .... I saw you !!!! Scandalous
behavior taking place, scandalous I say. Even our Soca Warriors - Kenwyne
Jones, Stern John and Brent Sancho - in the dance with their Red Bull.
Who say our Soca Warriors cannot party with the normal people too? The
infamous Alex Jordan from BBC 1Xtra - sexy!!! - was in the boogie too
... who say take a flex too ... Under Mi Guinness!!! As per usual, the
rasta chef, Hasan was in the dance with his crafty and skillful hands
in the kitchen to provide us with the Caribbean style - pelau and curry
        - fill up the stomachs of us Caribbean people. I think a Busspepper party
would be empty without Hasan. He is a guarantee to be in the boogie with
a best tasty plate. Don't ever deny the power of a Caribbean plate of
food. At the end of a wild
and wet night, the cloak room crowd ... that in itself is like another
dance without music - it was just too small - I all for the jam up and
feel up people but nah not to go get a coat!! :-) All in all, Bushfire
was decent - nice atmosphere, sexy people - real man - friendly crowd.
It was worth the night out. Busspepper, see you next time (hopefully returning
to Abacus?). -- Under Mi Guinness |
