Doooooon't Fail Meeeee Noooooooow! O gosh o gosh!!!! What's up my Kings and Queens!?
Grand Kadooment Day, the perfect end to a great Crop Over! There were beauties
and cuties up and down St. James dressed in their Crop Over finest ... next to
nothing! I swear everytime I put on a costume I feel as though the bottom piece
gets smaller and smaller. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about,
I talkin about d tanty, yes folks d tanty. Thong+Panty=Tanty (West Indians version
of a panty, will turn into thong if you make the wrong move or sneeze). Thank
God for my beaded belt! This was my first Kadooment, so you can imagine my surprise when I was told that the stage was in a stadium and we had to literally go across the field to get to the parade. I would have been excited by this but everyone was walking by! I'm used to Trini Carnival where everyone loses their minds when stage time comes! I tried to hype up my section, Dragons in Baje Int'l, but my efforts were in vain so I strutted across the field and conserved my energy and my waistline for the road. Drinks!
One must have drinks when winin' and wukkin' up, and I was the first one in line
for some rum and coke. Okay, drink in hand, friends in tow, lewwe go Stabby go
and tek a wine down d roooooad! I found myself behind the Baje truck listening
to sweet Soca when Rupee came on board, yay "Feet
Don't Fail Me" and then, out of the blue, Machel Montano and
Lil Jon popped up. This truck have real stars! Stay tuned to TJJ TV for
interviews Go Mix Juice go, through the crowd and see Daddy Juice and crew wukkin' hard and getting attacked by masqueraders lookin' to wuk up wuk up! All yuh popular! Good
sweet vibes were flowing through the air and then comes the announcement "All
yuh get within the parade and doh go in front or on the side of d truck otherwise
we shuttin d parade down!" Excuse I? Police down there real strict when it
came to keeping everyone restricted to a certain route. I know it was for safety
but fuh real, jus so? You Bajans are too organized, yes!! The parade started to come to an end and me and my crew went over to the field, where Baje does call it ah day, to chow down on some food and saw our West Indian massive passed out on the grass in silence, all with happy looks on their faces thinking about Jouvert, Cohobolopot and secret wines and juks. I sat down for the first time in hours and joined in. My first Kadooment and certainly not my last! Oh, one more thing .... "WE GONE!"
